Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital & Exotic Care would like to welcome 4th year veterinary student from the University of Wisconsin Madison Miranda Torkelson.
Miranda is a fourth-year veterinary student attending the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was 5 years old. Over the years, through time spent in nature, she has developed a passion for both outdoor activities and wildlife conservation. Her favorite part about veterinary medicine is the training in comparative medicine that can be used to improve the well-being of all animals, whether they have feathers, fur, or scales.
Miranda has been a part of a variety of research projects, working with porcupines, bats, coral, red-tailed hawks, foxes, and coyotes. In her free time, she enjoys backpacking, scuba diving, rock climbing, running, and traveling.
After graduation, Miranda is thrilled to be starting a small animal rotating internship at Tufts University in Grafton, MA. In the future, she hopes to pursue a zoological medicine residency or a PhD in wildlife health. She shares her apartment with two sassy cats, a mischievous Dutch rabbit, and a handsome corn snake.
