New Veterinary Associate to Join Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital & Exotic Care

Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital & Exotic Care, Inc. is pleased to announce a new addition to the Brook-Falls veterinary team.

Meryl Schimek is currently a 4th-year veterinary medical student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She will graduate in May 2018 and work at Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital & Exotic Care where she also did her externship. Dr. Schimek will focus on exotic companion mammal medicine and surgery.

Originally from the Detroit area in Michigan, Meryl spent her time as an undergraduate student at Northern Michigan University in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She worked as a veterinary assistant in an exclusively canine and feline practice for three years before veterinary medical school and spent a summer at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Minnesota which opened her eyes to the fascinating field of wildlife and exotic medicine.

During her veterinary schooling, Meryl worked with a variety of species while falling most in love with small exotic mammals (especially Rabbits).

In her spare time, Meryl regularly volunteers with the Wisconsin House Rabbit Society. She enjoys baking, reading and hiking outside. Meryl and her husband own a New Zealand rabbit, a large gray cat, and a Blue Heeler mixed dog.
